How green is PlanetHoster?

PlanetHoster is in the Green Web Foundation's directory of verified green hosting providers (we checked on 1 November 2026).

What the Foundation's verification means

PlanetHoster says its Canadian data centre runs entirely on hydroelectric power and its Lausanne site on hydroelectricity, though it cites no certificate for either. It also says its French data centre runs on nuclear power, which is low-carbon but not renewable, so by its own account not all its hosting is renewable. A table on the same page rates France at 100% on its own renewable scale, which doesn’t match.

Seven data centres in France, Switzerland and Canada; customers choose Europe or Canada.

The data centres we list are in 3 countries, whose grids average 91 g CO2e per kWh, against 218 g in the UK. Lower is cleaner.

The grid in each country
Each country's average grid carbon intensity, from Ember: the grid where the data centres are, not the provider's own supply.
