How green is WP Engine?

WP Engine is not in the Green Web Foundation's directory of verified green hosting providers (we checked on 1 November 2026). That says nothing either way about the energy behind its hosting.

What the Foundation's verification means

WP Engine says it cut its emissions by 51% between 2022 and 2024, but it publishes no total emissions, scopes or method behind that figure. Beyond this, its sustainability page describes its cloud providers’ own targets.

Shared plans run on Google Cloud in these countries; premium plans can also use AWS or Azure, in more countries.

The data centres we list are in 9 countries, whose grids average 307 g CO2e per kWh, against 218 g in the UK. Lower is cleaner.

Each country's average grid carbon intensity, from Ember: the grid where the data centres are, not the provider's own supply.
