Bluehost review

Not verifiedchecked 1 November 2026What this means

Big-name US host with 24/7 support, a 99.99% uptime SLA and a free domain for the first year.

Bluehost’s Starter plan costs $4.79 a month inc VAT, but only with three years paid upfront, and then $11.99 a month. You get room for 10 websites, NVMe storage and 24/7 chat, but backups are weekly and phone support starts on Business. Fine for a first WordPress site if you are happy to commit for three years.

How green is Bluehost?

Bluehost is not in the Green Web Foundation's directory of verified green hosting providers (we checked on 1 November 2026). That says nothing either way about the energy behind its hosting.

What the Foundation's verification means

Bluehost’s parent company says its move to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure brings a reduced carbon impact, but gives no figure, year, energy source or method. We found no sustainability report, renewable energy figure or certificate from Bluehost or its parent.

The data centres offered for shared hosting. Bluehost is moving its customers to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure during 2026.

The data centres we list are in 9 countries, whose grids average 291 g CO2e per kWh, against 218 g in the UK. Lower is cleaner.
